A new blow to tourism: the first airline canceled all its flights until spring 2023, other carriers are waiting for it

European airlines are continuing their “cancellation policy” with the first carrier to announce a complete cancellation of all its flights until next spring: UK's largest regional airline Loganair has announced that 300 flights will be canceled between November 2022 and March 2023. This includes the complete cancellation of the winter flight program from Newquay Airport (Cornwall), as well as “reduced plans” for the summer of 2023 for flights from Edinburgh and Manchester.

The decision was made “with a heavy heart,” Loganair said in a statement. “Despite all the challenges the pandemic has created, we have been working incredibly hard over the past two years to strengthen our presence at Cornwall Newquay Airport,” the carriers said. However, according to them, they are in a stalemate due to high fuel prices and rising inflation.

This is not the only airline that is almost completely withdrawing departure programs from regions in the UK. Thus, Wizz Air, due to “economic pressure”, almost completely stops flying from Cardiff for six months, stating that in the conditions of a “difficult macroeconomic environment” it is “unreasonable” to keep these flights. The British national carrier British Airways also announced the cancellation of more than 10 thousand flights until March.

A similar picture, by the way, in Europe. As a reminder, according to a statement by Lufthansa, flights will be canceled in the winter flight schedule from October 30, 2022 to March 26, 2023. First of all, the cancellations will affect the carrier's domestic flights in Germany, as well as flights within Europe. Tourists will be notified through the booking system. Read the details here.
