Anexa Airlines launches flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh from 11 Russian cities at once

The announced expansion of the number of flights from Russia to Egypt will take place, among other things, thanks to tour operator transportation. According to the Egyptian newspaper Egypti Independent, AZUR Air, i.e. the official carrier of Anex, launches flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh from 11 Russian cities at once. The airline itself clarified that this is part of a summer flight program abroad from 11 Russian cities from Moscow to Vladivostok.

Specifically, summer flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, “which are widely popular with Russian tourists” are scheduled this season from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Perm, Samara, Ufa and Chelyabinsk. Moreover, this is the first stage, the carrier notes, adding that there were no flight programs to Egypt in the summer of 2022.

The Egyptian tourist industry is clearly “rubbing its hands” stating that Russian tourists have already taken second place among the most mass markets for Hurghada in March. However, the figures still differ significantly – 45,000 Russians arrived at the resort, while German tourists took first place in the amount of 145,000 people.

Nevertheless, “Russian tourist flow to Egypt increased by 181%, and to the EU countries and the UK decreased by 99%. Sanctions and a ban on direct flights between Russia and most of the EU countries have led to the fact that the Middle East and Turkey have won, which did not ban flights to Russia, Egyptian sources add.

Obviously this is not the limit. The other day, Russian Consul General in Hurghada Viktor Voropaev said that an increase in the number of flights from Russia to Egypt is expected in the near future, first of all, we are talking about the resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
