Greece reported deafening figures despite the absence of Russian, Ukrainian and Chinese tourists

Central Bank of Greece released deafening statistics . According to the information, the Greek travel and tourism sector broke its own record for the corresponding period last year, despite the absence of Russian, Ukrainian and Chinese tourists.

According to the Minister of Tourism of Greece Vassilis Kikilias published by local publications, Greece ranks first place in Europe according to the influx of tourists from the following countries:

  1. France
  2. Israel
  3. Serbia
  4. Romania

“Two of our main goals, extending the tourist season and attracting travelers who spend large sums of money on their holidays, achieved,” the official noted.

As for the shortage of personnel in the tourism sector, which was formed during the coronavirus pandemic, the minister called on entrepreneurs to create new high-quality and well-paid jobs. Kikilias said that tourism employees are ambassadors of the country, and everyone should be concerned about the tourism product of the republic, which should be at a high level so that travelers are not disappointed and choose Greece for their next trips.

Data recently released by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority showed that in the first five months of this year, a total of 14 million passengers arrived in the country, up 377.7% compared to the same period in 2021 – offset by 86% of the pre-pandemic level. In addition, the agency noted that between June 27 and July 3, 879,069 airline seats were booked, and a total of 939,943 for the week after July 10, or 1,819,012 seats, which, if filled, would mean that Greece received a total 1.81 million tourists in two weeks.

Earlier, data from the Central Bank of Greece showed that Greece recorded a staggering 884% increase in the number of foreign travelers in April. In addition, the same source said that in April 2022, there was an increase of 1,000 percent in the corresponding receipts compared to the figures of last year's April. A report published earlier by the European Tourism Commission (ETC) has shown that the Hellenic Republic is one of the top five holiday destinations among European travelers.
