Prices for air tickets to Turkey have increased by 2-2.5 times, and the only way to somehow cope with this is to provide Turkish air carriers with “more opportunities for flights” and, in fact, abandon the “reciprocity regime”. Only this measure will help bring down the crazy prices. This opinion of the President of the Association of Passengers of Russia Kirill Yankov was quoted by the Turkish media.
N.B. Earlier, Turprom wrote on the same topic in the material “With Egypt – the farther, the worse, with Turkey – even sadder: the Russian woman was shocked by the prices of air tickets.”
He stressed that the main reason for the situation is that the majority of Russian aircraft have been put out of action due to sanctions. “As a result, airfare on the Turkey-Russia route reached record levels. The only way to end this situation is to urgently allow Turkish airlines more flights,” he says.
According to him, first of all, it is necessary to accept proposals to increase the total number of flights from Russia to Turkey on the “wings” of Turkish carriers. At the moment, their number reaches 85 per day, but without problems it can be increased to 100.
“This will help mitigate, if not solve, the problem. If the number of flights exceeds 100, air ticket prices will be 30-40% lower,” Mr. Yankov said, specifying that at the moment prices have increased by 2-2.5 times compared to last year. At the same time, he added that the demand, which can easily be satisfied by an increase in the number of times, is “available” in Russia. At the same time, it is unlikely to return to last year's prices, the expert emphasized, if only because the flight to Turkey is forced to take longer, and fuel prices have risen.
