Named the deadline for the resumption of flights from Russia to the famous island that saved the rest of Russian tourists during a pandemic

The date for the resumption of flights from Russia to the famous island that saved the rest of Russian tourists during the pandemic< /p> The famous island that saved the rest of Russian tourists during the pandemic – Zanzibar in Tanzania, will again become available to Russian tourists by direct flights. The Anexa airline AZUR air, which the Russian Foreign Ministry has appointed as the main airline for flights to Zanzibar from the regions of Russia, specified for ATOR when flights from the regions are likely to open. As stated, we are talking about the winter season 2023/24.

According to representatives of the air carrier, AZUR air was appointed by the Russian Foreign Ministry as the main airline for flights to Zanzibar. In total, the airline has permission to operate flights to Tanzania from 11 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Perm, Ufa and Chelyabinsk. In addition, preliminary agreements have been reached regarding ground support for such flights.

“AZUR air has informed potential customers about its readiness to launch flight programs to Tanzania from Russia and is awaiting the decision of tour operators,” adds ATOR. First of all, we are talking about “Turkish” tour operators who have already flown to Zanzibar – in addition to Anex, these are Pegas Touristik and Coral. But they haven't decided on their plans yet. Potentially, Tanzania may be interesting in the winter season, but it is still premature to make forecasts – they note, for example, in Anex.

Experts also note that the popularity of Zanzibar among Russian tourists in the winter season 2020/21 was rather caused by “extraneous circumstances” – then pandemic restrictions were still in full swing, almost all exotic warm destinations were quarantined and lovers of warm seas willingly went to the island, the authorities which they said that there was no pandemic on it. However, with the coronavirus pandemic, with all its limitations, hopefully finally fading into the past, Tanzania and Zanzibar will have to compete with more famous winter destinations – Thailand, the UAE, Egypt – and it will not be easy. However, if direct flights take off, they will be able to make the destination more attractive, and the country will receive more Russian tourists, the tourist market is sure.

The main question, of course, is what prices will be. Now tour operators send tourists to Zanzibar “on the bed”, including Oman Air flights. Prices at the same time on average in the market are 150-200 thousand rubles. for two for ten nights.
