The next bag hunters of careless tourists were detained at the “Russian” resort of Thailand. In the local publication Pattaya Mail, the Pattaya police spoke about the operation to catch criminals who robbed a Russian tourist. The robbers claim that for them this robbery was the first time in their lives, but law enforcement officers doubt it.
The details are as follows: Pitak Dungsawat, 23, and Pirayut Lungin, 22, were detained separately on March 2, the day after they ripped a Balenciaga bag from Larisa S., 48, a Russian tourist, while passing by on a motorcycle. I was returning to my hotel from a shop on Naklya Soi street. 18/1. The purse, according to the victim, contained a mobile phone worth 35,000 baht (i.e., about 75 thousand rubles), cash 3,000 baht (6.6 thousand rubles) and Russian rubles.
First, the police I found only a handbag thrown out by the attackers. Then, using video from CCTV cameras, the police tracked the couple to a parcel delivery point at Soi Wat Sawang Fa 3 in Naklua. At first, only Pitak was detained, but he confessed and quickly turned in his partner, who was arrested soon after with a wallet.
The two claimed it was the first time they had robbed someone, police said , but their stories were not believed and they are looking for other victims. It is not reported what property of the Russian woman was returned.
