Tourists who arrived from Egypt can be “tested” again with methods memorable from the covid pandemic: Rospotrebnadzor again took up Egypt. The cause is an unknown disease, similar in symptoms to Dengue fever, which can also attack tourists, and which is fixed in the Qena region, which all tourists pass on a guided tour on their way to Luxor.
The official information, which was announced by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor, is as follows: the department has strengthened sanitary and quarantine control over flights arriving from Egypt due to cases of an unknown disease in the country. “The Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare informs that, according to media reports and the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, cases of an unknown disease have been recorded in the province of Qena (600 kilometers south of Cairo). Symptoms of the disease are similar to dengue fever. Here it is necessary to add that many Russian tourists who go on excursions to the famous monuments of Ancient Egypt run the risk of passing through this province. Kena is located on the Nile just north of Luxor, and the bus route from Hurghada to Luxor lies exactly through Kena.
At the same time, the department also reported that in connection with this situation, Rospotrebnadzor has strengthened sanitary and quarantine control in relation to flights arriving from Egypt, including with the help of the Perimeter automated information system. So tourists can again, as in the days of the pandemic, be “under attack”. Tourists were also reminded that “in order to prevent infectious and parasitic diseases carried by insects” they are recommended to “wear clothes that cover the skin as much as possible, use insect repellents and insecticides (repellants and insecticides), indoors – install nets on windows and doors” . And upon returning home, in case of deterioration, you must consult a doctor, informing about your visit to the resort country.
We add that not only Egypt can fall under the suspicion of the department. “Dengue fever is widespread in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Myanmar, Singapore, Philippines), India, Africa (Mozambique, Sudan, Egypt), in the tropical and subtropical zone of North, Central and South America (Mexico, Honduras, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Brazil and others). The main carriers of the fever are Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. In the absence of a carrier, a sick person does not pose an epidemiological danger, ”added the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
At the same time, we recall that in Thailand the situation with dengue fever is, to put it mildly, restless – a new epidemic is gaining momentum in Thailand: as stated by the Public Health Administration (PHO), dengue fever in Thailand has already claimed the lives of 33 people. At the same time, 27,377 cases of dengue fever have been registered in the kingdom. Moreover, the situation is alarming in areas popular with tourists, as well as in places where Russian “visarans” often visit. So, those who go on a visa run to Cambodia are at risk – one of the risk zones for dengue fever has been recorded in the provinces on the border between Cambodia and Thailand. In total, over 100 cases of dengue have been recorded in the border district. Another risk area popular with tourists is the province of Chiang Mai. Here the situation is even more serious. Since January 1,805, people in the province have been infected with dengue fever and there have been two deaths, according to Chathikaya Manirat, head of the Chaingmai Provincial Public Health Bureau. Read the details in the article “Already 33 deaths: a new epidemic is gaining momentum in Thailand.”
So it is not at all impossible that Rospotrebnadzor may return to the methods of “covid” control.
