Thailand to resume nightlife for tourists

Thailand will resume a full-fledged nightlife for tourists

At the end of August, nightlife can fully recover in Thailand. The Minister of Tourism and Sports told local media yesterday that the department has officially filed, for Covid-19 Situation Management Center (CCSA) approval, permission for bars, clubs and other entertainment establishments to extend opening hours from 2:00 to 4:00. The motivation is very simple – tourists who want to find entertainment for themselves under any ban, but much less permitted and safe. In addition, as Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated, it is necessary for the greater economic good of Thailand.

First of all, permission will be given to specific tourist areas, well known to Russian tourists. In particular, such as Khao San Road, Bangla Street, Patong Beach, Phuket, Pattaya Walking Street, Ao Nang in Krabi, Khao Lak in Phan Nga, Hua Hin, Samui and Chaing Mai. “These changes are necessary because they fit into the lifestyle of those foreigners who visit the kingdom. At 10 pm, tourists from Europe and the Middle East sit down to dine, and they begin to drink and enjoy the atmosphere around midnight. If entertainment venues close after two hours, this is extremely disappointing for tourists,” he said.

Next, he noted that the extension of work is also in the interests of safety – both local residents and tourists. Even after the closure of entertainment clubs, they are looking for where to buy alcohol and where to have fun unofficially. Moreover, if all walking areas and clubs are under the control of the security forces, the minister added, this cannot be said about illegal business. “It makes sense for travelers to drink in a safe area under the watchful eye of a controlled area. Thanks to this, unexpected incidents and crimes will be reduced,” the minister said.

According to him, he expects the initiative to be approved soon. Officially, the CCSA is due to approve the decision on August 19.
