Storm front, which will last at least a week, and will bring heavy rains, winds up to 30 km/h and waves two meters high scared tourists in Phuket, as well as in other resorts of the Andaman Sea – i.e. Krabi, Trang and Phang Nga. The storm “brought” from the sea on Tuesday, but tourists are not promised weakening of the weather.
“Winds are forecast at 15 to 30 km/h, heavy to very heavy rain on about 70% of the coastal area, as well as thunderstorms with waves 2 meters high. Owners of small boats are advised to beach their boats,” the Thai Meteorological Department said. Tourists, just in case, are also advised to avoid the sea and beaches, as well as other places that are dangerous during heavy rain and thunderstorms.
There was also a flood warning. “In the south, there is a risk of flooding and flash flooding caused by heavy rains,” meteorologists say.
Stormy weather will last until at least Thursday – all this time strong winds and two-meter waves at sea are expected. By Friday, it will begin to subside – however, the height of the waves will remain at least 1 meter, and “may reach two meters if a squally wind arises.” So it’s still better for tourists to stay away from the beach.
