Turkey rests: Russian tour operator reported a 30% drop in prices for the Maldives

Against the backdrop of rising prices for “mass” destinations, such as Turkey, prices for “high-class” exotics continue to fall and look quite acceptable and competitive, which immediately affects demand. This is how the Russian tour operator commented on the situation to TURPROM, who reported a 30% reduction in prices for tours to the Maldives compared to winter.

As Space Travel analysts explained, the reduction in prices for tours to the Maldives compared to last winter reached an average of 30%. This happened “against the background of the volatility of exchange rates”, in addition, profitable special offers from Maldivian hoteliers began to appear and the flight program was noticeably expanded.

“The company observes a noticeable increase in the interest of Russians in this area at the beginning of summer. Gradually, the Maldives are becoming off-season for those who dream of relaxing on the islands of the Indian Ocean, ”added specialists from the Space Travel tour operator, after analyzing the number of tours sold and applications for early booking since the beginning of May 2023.

On average, tourists choose hotels mostly standard 5 * on the All Inclusive basis. Young couples prefer to relax in the Maldives this year, couples with children take second place in terms of requests – the average duration of a vacation is from 7 to 10 days. Top 3 hotels in the Maldives from Space Travel this summer: Dhigali Maldives 5*, Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa 5*, Cora Cora 5*.

And finally, the most important question for tourists is the price. “In mid-July, to relax in the Maldives from Space Travel with double accommodation in a 4 * hotel for breakfast and with a direct flight from Moscow to Male for a week costs from 259 thousand rubles.” – said in Space Travel.

Note that this is quite comparable with the prices for tours to Turkish hotels. What has already been noticed in Turkey, saying that Turkey this season has become incredibly expensive. The average price has increased by 70-90% compared to the pre-pandemic period. As a result, Russian tourists in Turkey have decreased by a third – and the situation is such that it is now cheaper for tourists from Russia to rest in the Maldives – and Turkey, accordingly, is “resting” in a bad way.
